Why Cambodia?

My first trip in Cambodia was in 2005 after God led me to work with orphans there. I returned for a year in 2006 to teach art and study Khmer history and language while living at an orphanage in Kampong Cham. I have fallen deeply in love with the Khmer people, the vibrant culture, and the beauty of the nation of Cambodia! I have been back many times since; most recently for a year in 2016/17 to work closely with our crafters.

I have included an eclectic group of photographs below to give you a glimpse into the culture and beauty of Cambodia. This particular photo was taken during a 5th grade field trip I took my art students on to learn about traditional Khmer weaving. There is so much that goes into these textiles from raising silk worms to the finished one of a kind product! This was a wonderful learning experience for my students and renewed my appreciation and fascination with this ancient traditional art-form. This loom is more than 100 years old!

Please continue to visit our blog. We will share relevant stories about traditional Cambodian arts and crafts here as well as introduce our Radiant Crafters so you can hear their inspiring stories. I will keep you informed on issues of social justice in Cambodia and why I am so passionate about this business.
